BIG BAD JOHNS
Big Bad Johns were one of New Haven’s most popular rock bands in the latter half of the 1990’s. Inspired by country-punk acts like the Beat Farmers, the Blasters and Dash Rip Rock, they combined a raucous stage show with hard-hitting, catchy songs that rocked every bar they ever played and left audiences with smiles on their faces. Their two studio albums, “Plymouth Rock” and “I Will Be Good,” on Feralette Records are fan favorites to this day. Though they disbanded in the early 2000’s, they have reunited a few times since to sellout houses and excited audiences. Their music has lived on in the soundtrack to shows such as “True Blood,” “90210,” “Divorce,” and “Heartland.” This show will feature the beloved original foursome of Detroit Dick, Buzz Gordo, Nervus Chet, and Jumpin’ Jim Balga, blasting through their hits like “Cold, Cold Heart,” “Smokin’ Joe,” “Funky Fu Manchu,” and some choice covers like “Baby’s Liquored Up.” Long time BBJ fans can relive their glorious youth, while newcomers can see and hear what all the fuss was about.
