In advance of its 50th year, Hallwalls presents a selected survey of work by Buffalo-based artist and photographer Biff Henrich. Henrich's history with Hallwalls dates back to its earliest days in the late 1970s and early 1980s, where he was heavily involved with CEPA, a sister organization.
Henrich's artistic career has been diverse, incorporating various techniques and subjects. He frequently utilizes in-camera processes to capture images, showcasing a deep trust in the lens and its ability to convey both technical precision and aesthetic intuition.
The exhibition aims to represent the trajectory of Henrich's artistic journey across decades, highlighting the through-lines and ideas that persist within his work. Henrich's art has been exhibited extensively in galleries and museums nationwide, and his accolades include two National Endowment for the Arts Fellowships and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship.
