This 8-hour class offers the full experience of wheel building science and technique. Students will learn about:
*types of rims & spokes
*lacing patterns
*calculating spoke lengths
*spoke tension
*wheel dishing
*truing stands, tensiometers and other *tools
*spoke thread preparation
Over the course of the day, every student will build a wheel from start to finish. In a small group setting of no more than four students, this class will be cerebral, hands-on, and fun!
These classes will be taught by CAT expert mechanic and Barnett Bicycle Institute graduate, Bill Meiklejohn.
Note: all materials (rim, hub, spokes, tools) will be provided for building a practice wheel during the class. (Note: wheel not included with the class fee).
Future resources provided at the class: a recommended reading list will be provided at the class, USB thumb drive including spoke length calculator, hub and rim measurement forms.
