ABOUT THE SESSION: This Advanced Equipping session continues the equipping process for facilitators in Bible-based Trauma Healing using the book Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How the Church Can Help and its associated program model.

The Advanced Equipping session further develops the skills acquired at the Initial session and during the practicum. Among the topics included are:

  • Review the ‘core’ lessons
  • Practice facilitation to further grow as an effective facilitator
  • Cover some supplemental lessons
  • Further explore art and other exercises
  • Introduce contextualization of materials
  • Discuss use of the new Military version

The goal by the end of this session is to be a well-equipped Healing Group Facilitator. Participants should be better able to solve issues arising in trauma healing groups as they carry out their ministries. They should understand the materials completely and clearly, and be able to better lead groups in a participatory way. Similar to the Initial equipping, there is an evaluation during this Advanced equipping session that consists of:

  • Participant’s self-awareness of impact on others and the ability to interact well in a group
  • Participant’s overall emotional well-being
  • Another short test showing knowledge of the content
  • More practice facilitating a group in a participatory way with feedback on strengths and suggestions for areas needing improvement.

Participants who have the necessary competencies are certified as Healing Group Facilitators at the end of the advanced session.

If a participant demonstrates training skills, he/she may also become a Training Facilitator and mentored to help conduct Initial Equippings with a more experienced facilitator.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Participants must have successfully completed an Initial Equipping session.

2. Participants must have co-led or led at least two healing groups (or equivalent activity) and submitted their reports.

3 . Participants must attend ALL sessions of the workshop.
