Join us for a sunrise-ish hike to the Indian Seats overlook at Sawnee Mountain. Expect a moderate 3.5–4 mile loop with about ~500 ft of elevation gain, forest shade, gated historic mine shafts along the route, and big Blue Ridge views at the top. No dogs are allowed on these trails per park rules. Bring water, snacks, and good shoes. Go at your own pace.Quick facts:

A bit of history:
The “Indian Seats” are natural rock formations long associated with Cherokee ceremonial use (local accounts). Sawnee also has remnants of 19th-century gold mining—you’ll pass gated mine shafts along the loop.
What to bring: 1–2L water, light snack, layered clothing, sun protection, and sturdy shoes. Optional: trekking poles, camera.
