BFC Presents: The Songwriters Circle
The singer songwriter sits at the heart of music. They are the storytellers, the dreamers, the recorders of history, the peoples champions. Our Song Writer’s Circle features three artists at the centre of the new wave of contemporary songwriting. Anna Renae, Craig Joiner & Calum Gilligan, a recent winner of Purbeck Rising.
Anna Renae’s album 'Skin' was released in March 2020, and her follow-up EP 'Speaking Her Mind' was released in October 2021. Anna's music has received glowing reviews and has attained radio play around the world, including many plays on BBC Introducing.
Craig Joiner released his latest album, “A Kind Of Calm”Songs written by Craig have also been recorded by artistes as diverse as Bonnie Tyler and Steps and featured in major Hollywood movies, A Nightmare on Elm Street, 102 Dalmatians and Jack Reacher among them.
Calum Gilligan, Born in rural Galloway in Scotland, and now residing in Liverpool, Calum Gilligan has made large strides in the British Folk Scene in recent years. From supporting the likes of Kitty McFarlane, Martin Carthy and Martin Simpson, to launching a well-received Debut Album in 2022, this artist described as ‘gifted’ by Folk Radio is only growing in reputation and confidence with every step he takes.
