About this Event
At Advent Episcopal School, our commitment to becoming a tech-intentional community is an essential part of our vision to be a beacon of excellence. We understand that navigating the balance between technology and unplugged, hands-on learning is an evolving process, both for families and schools. As we work to make thoughtful, intentional decisions about how technology is integrated into the classroom, we recognize the importance of creating meaningful learning experiences that are both grounded in real-world activities and supported by appropriate, developmentally aligned technology use.
In partnership with our Advent Parent Association (APA), we are excited to offer this event as part of our ongoing effort to support and empower parents in this important journey. The APA plays a vital role in fostering community connections and providing resources that help families navigate challenges like technology use. Together, we aim to create a shared space for learning, reflection, and collaboration.
While we are proud of the progress we've made in fostering a balance between technology and unplugged activities, we recognize that this is an ongoing journey of growth. Our goal is to continually refine our practices, ensuring we create the best possible environment for our students and families.
This event, featuring Emily Cherkin, a nationally recognized screen time consultant, offers an exciting opportunity for us to come together as a community and explore best practices for managing technology use in a healthy and intentional way—both at home and at school. By reflecting on our own experiences and learning from Emily’s expertise, we hope to continue shaping a balanced approach that benefits both our students and families.
