Beyond the Chair: Turn Up the Conversation - A workshop with Kelly's Heroes

Join us for an exciting in person event at Rushden Lakes, (Behind Canoe2),where we will dive deep into the art of conversation with the amazing Kelly's Heroes.

You hear the stories, see the changes, and hold space for people every day, now it’s time to look Beyond the Chair.

We are inviting local hairdressers, barbers, tattooists, and beauticians to a free, three-hour pilot workshop to co-design a new community mental health awareness training created specifically for your salons, studios and barbers.

Together, we will explore what mental health really means, how to spot the signs in everyday appointments, how to have supportive conversations without pressure, and how to look after yourself with clear boundaries and peer support. You’ll try practical tools, review the resources and campaign ideas, and share what would make this training truly work in your setting.

This is a working session, your feedback will help us fine-tune our content and shape the delivery ahead of its full launch in January 2026. Everyone taking part will receive a free place on the first official training and be invited to join us as Beyond the Chair Ambassadors, helping to spread the message that together, we can #TurnUpTheConversation, so nobody feels alone, and it’s truly okay not to be okay.
