Beyond the Brush is back again for our second competition of 2024 - Beyond the Brush: Shocktober! We are announcing this event early so you have lots of time to prepare some amazing entries. Please see the details below and our list of categories. Beyond the Brush is FREE to enter!
1 category per person.
Entries are not limited to Games Workshop minis and can include but are not limited to Star Wars Shatterpoint or Legions minis, Marvel Crisis Protocol or Conquest etc.
We can accept entries from the 6th of October.
Entries must be in by 3pm Sunday 20th October.
Award Ceremony will be held 12.00pm Sunday 27th of October.
$30 Beyond Gift Vouchers for the Winners in each category, a Best in Show award selected from amongst the winners of each category, plus a Door Prize at the Awards Ceremony to one lucky participant just for entering!
Categories:
Large Miniature or Vehicle:
Any single large miniature or Vehicle, mounted on an appropriately sized base. Examples include Angron, Lord Kroak, Kragnos, Carnifex, any large beasts like Stegadons, or any tanks/walkers like Land Raider, Lehmann Russ, Dreadnaughts, Ork Trukks and Star Wars Legions large vehicles.
Single Miniature:
Any single humanoid-sized miniature mounted on an appropriately sized base. Examples include single Space Marines, Orks, Stormcast Eternals, Skaven, Star Wars or Marvel characters and any models this size mounted on bikes or small vehicles.
Squad/Unit Category:
Any squads or warbands of three or more models, this includes miniatures on foot as well as those mounted on bikes, jetbikes, beasts etc.
Open Category/Special Skill:
Any painting or hobby piece that showcases a special skill i.e. dioramas, kit-bashing, lighting, animatronics or a unique painting technique. Entries must be no larger than 30cmx30cmx30cm.
Masters Category:
This category is the greatest test of your painting skill. All entrants will paint the same single miniature. No other model is allowed. No conversions are allowed and the model must be based on the base supplied. These restrictions put the focus entirely on the painting. THIS YEAR'S MODEL IS THE ROTBRINGER SORCERER!
Youngbloods: This category is open to any competitors aged 14 years or under. Any entry is allowed to be entered but must be no larger than 30mmx30mmx30mm.
Please note, Judges will be looking not only for technical ability, but also for entries that best exemplify the qualities and character of the army they represent. Therefore it is not simply painting skill on show, but broader creativity and the ability to capture tone and mood. So why not give it a go?
