Beyond the Binary
Jamie Bruesehoff (she/they) is a nationally known speaker, award-winning LGBTQ+ advocate, and a heartfelt writer. Rooted in her queer identity, her experiences raising a transgender child, and two decades of working with youth and families, Jamie Bruesehoff equips leaders to create safer, more inclusive spaces for LGBTQIA people of all ages. She is the author of Raising Kids beyond the Binary: Celebrating God’s Transgender and Gender-Diverse Children. Jamie graduated Magna Cum Laude from Gettysburg College with a Bachelors of Arts in Religion and received her Masters of Arts in Religion from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (now United Lutheran Seminary). Jamie’s book will be available at the event.
Rev. Christopher Bruesehoff (he/him) is a second generation
Lutheran pastor who has served in congregational ministry for over twenty years. After growing up in New Jersey with his parents and three younger sisters, Pastor Chris went on to
complete his BA in Religion at Boston University and his Masters of Divinity at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. He returned to the Garden State to marry his spouse, Jamie. Since his eighteen-year-old daughter transitioned nine years ago, his family has embarked on a journey of learning and advocacy that continues to impact his understanding of what it means to be the church together. Rebekah Breusehoff is an author and activist who is passionate about authenticity and inclusion. Rebekah’s journey into public advocacy began at 10-years-old when a picture of her holding a sign went viral. With her cute pink pigtails, Rebekah made a bold statement that transgender people aren’t scary at all. Suddenly, she had a platform, and she knew she needed to use it. Since then she’s used that platform to connect with legislators, advocate for representation of LGBTQ+ voices in books and media, and spread a message of hope. As attacks on transgender kids continue, Rebekah continues to partner with leaders and elected officials to share her story. Rebekah inspires people of all ages and identities to show up fully as themselves and dare to make the world a better place.
