Through an evening of storytelling, interactive engagement, and a silent auction benefiting Investigate Midwest's investigative journalism and educational initiatives, Beyond Stereotypes: The Modern Man seeks to create a space where attendees can listen, reflect, and participate in a broader conversation about gender, identity, and societal expectations.The event will be emceed by Iowa Public Radio's Charity Nebbe and recorded for broadcast on Talk of Iowa.
The heart of the event will center around a live storytelling-based program that will offer an intimate conversation where men, and those whose lives have been shaped by the men around them, will share their own personal journeys through 10-minute off-script stories. Whether discussing struggles with traditional gender roles, breaking through societal expectations, or exploring personal moments of growth and identity, each story adds depth to a nuanced and evolving dialogue. The event welcomes a wide range of narratives that contribute to a broader understanding of masculinity and the diverse experiences it encompasses.
