Have you ever wondered and thought "what is it exactly like to be social?" or "why are we social?" in the first place? Like us humans, almost all living beings has a structure of family. Can we say they are social too?
In a collaboration with @anthsocuwa, UPhilSoc invites you to join a fascinating public lecture delivered by Dr. Lucia C. Neco - one of the exciting new researchers studying social connections, and what it exactly means to be social.
? Monday 6th May, 2024
? 2PM
? Myers Street Lecture Theatre 206
Dr. Lucia Neco's fascinating journey takes her from the world of spiders to delving into the intricate nature of social relationships among different species. With a fresh perspective, she effortlessly combines knowledge of biology, psychology, and philosophy to create a comprehensive framework for comprehending social phenomena. Dr. Neco sheds light on the essence of social systems by breaking down the concept of sociality, emphasizing the importance of interactions, relationships, and individual cognition. Her research sheds light on the deep interconnectedness of life on Earth, from the selective behavior of plants caring for their offspring to the emerging evidence of cognitive abilities in bacteria.
Join us to uncover the intricate web of connections that shape our world and discover how this knowledge can pave the way for a brighter, more caring, eco-friendly tomorrow.
See you there!
