In this workshop you will consolidate your 'Beginners' chords and learn some Beyond Beginnners Chords. You will also build on your 'Beginners Rhythms' and learn to play nine different songs. Each session runs from 11:30am to 12:45am (including a short tea/coffee break).
You can Book a Place on the entire workshop programme for £140 or book a number of individual sessions for £17.50 per session. Alternatively, you can 'drop-in' and pay on the day (space permitting).
The You Ukes Beyond Beginners Series of Ukulele Workshops are designed to help beginners develop their ukulele playing skills further. Through this series of workshops you will consolidate your ability to play the basic chords and rhythms covered in the Beginners Series. Through this series, you will learn many more chords, including some bar chords, half-a-dozen additional rhythms and many additional songs. We'll also introduce you to techniques such as chunking, slapping and rhythm changes, as well as covering some basic music theory about keys and chord construction. As with the Beginners Series you will play along with the workshop leaders and your fellow participants, you will work through simple exercises and activities designed to help you develop your uke-skills and you will learn through playing songs. Then, once you feel ready, or when you've completed all three workshops, you will be able to move onto our Improvers Series of Workshops.
Each of our nine-week Workshops Programmes consists of weekly one-hour sessions. In each session you will be guided through a series of simple exercises designed to help you develop the skills necessary to play Beyond Beginners level ukulele chords and rhythms. You can bring along your own ukulele or you can hire a ukulele from us for the duration of the workshop.
The workshop will run with a minimum of six participants. However, we have three workshop leaders (all experienced members of the You Ukes Club) so we can accommodate many more. To get the most out of the workshop, we recommend that you also plan to practice playing for at least three or four short sessions between each workshop.
