A workshop for folks who aspire to take their allyship to the next level and create a welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ people in spaces where decisions are made. Attendees should know the basics of pronouns and vocabulary prior to Beyond Allyship, so a shortened LGBTQ+ 101 training will be offered prior at 9am. In this workshop, will define heterosexism, monosexism, cissexism, and intersectionality, and discuss how they show up in broader society as well as organizing and advocacy spaces. We'll discuss the continuum from ally to co-conspirator, and provide tools to work through the things that get in the way of taking our allyship a step further. Lastly, we will create space for each individual to identify specific ways they can leverage their resources, talents, and privileges, to work in collaboration with LGBTQ+ people to solve social problems.
There will be about 30-45 minutes of reading sent out prior to the workshop.
