Exploring pioneering approaches to Christian youth work in the UK
About this Event

Tickets: £60 non-members / £36 for FYT & Curbs member

Most children and young people are now beyond the church. Our methods of youth and children’s ministry need to change to meet the challenges of the post-church, post-covid world.

Frontier Youth Trust (fyt.org.uk) and CURBS (curbsproject.org.uk) are hosting a learning day for those interested in connecting with children and young people BEYOND the walls of the Church. The day will include a series of short talks from practitioners with inspiring stories of ministry in the community with opportunities for round-table discussions on each theme to explore practical tips, ideas for your work, and fresh thinking.

Confirmed speakers include:

Charis Robertson, from Hot Chocolate in Dundee, will be exploring the theme of Creativity, sharing their experiences of engaging and supporting young people across the city.

Zoe Bell from the Ashfield Detached project (a church-group living and working on an estate in the Midlands) will be sharing their experiences of engaging children and young people through fostering and adoption.

Adele Rogers from Worth Unlimited will be sharing their work supporting young people’s mental health.

Plus: Explore FYT's Resistance exhibition and meet with others engaged in youth and children’s work on the margins.

To be confirmed: More speakers will be announced soon. We are confirming speakers on the topics of LGBTQ+ youth clubs, racial justice, responding to disadvantaged families, community houses, political activism, engaging children/young people in local communities, and public theology.

Members discount. A 40% discount is available to CURBS and FYT members. Membership is free and available for those journeying with children and young people on the margins. To sign up as a member, or for members who don’t have the discount code, email [email protected] or [email protected].

Lunch will be provided on the day.

Frontier Youth Trust is a movement journeying with young people on the margins of church and society. Across the UK our members are working with young people in local communities, creating new possibilities, advocating for change, and calling more to join the pioneer movement. Together we are a movement building a better world for young people. www.fyt.org.uk

CURBS (Children in Urban Situations) is a small Christian charity that resources and trains church-linked children’s workers in inner cities and on outer urban estates. CURBS advocates strongly for an approach to children which starts in their urban world, values their spirituality and recognises their developmental needs. www.curbsproject.org.uk
