About this Event
Bex Burch and friends present "As Yet Untitled" w/ poems from John-Francis Quinonez
Bex Burch is in the US for Winter Jazz Fest in NYC. They've built a US tour around it, and happily we are included! Doors open at 6. Cocktail bar, kitchen, and cafe bar are available.
"From the heart of England, Yorkshire-born Londoner Bex Burch is a popular figure in the vibrant world of contemporary jazz music.
Known for her unique style, which she describes as "messy minimalism", Burch's work is a fusion of space, repetition and controlled chaos – a philosophy that honours musical heritage while daring to explore new frontiers.
Her journey began with an 18-month apprenticeship in Ghana, West Africa, studying traditional Dagaare xylophone music.
This profoundly shaped her musical identity and sent her on a path of creative self-discovery and professional growth.
As a percussionist and composer, she has carved out a niche where polyrhythms meet minimalism, creating music that speaks a universal language of connection and understanding. Burch's love for her craft is evident in her handmade gyil, which is a testament to her commitment."
