About this Event
Join writer and teaching artist Kristen Zory King at The Potter's House for "Between the Lines," a monthly session that is part book club, part writing workshop—using the work of one extraordinary artist as inspiration for your own creative writing and musings.
This session, we will explore the life and work of Finnish author Tove Jansson, taking a close examination of Jansson's short story collection The Woman Who Borrowed Memories alongside her visual art and beloved Moomins comic strip. Together, we will spend dedicated time dissecting Jansson's eclectic and heartfelt approach to storytelling through various mediums and then spend time crafting our own drafts and narratives with guided prompts and generous discussion.
Between the Lines will run monthly, with each month focusing on a new title or author. The cost for this workshop is $25 with a pay-what-you-can ticket option available for all. Ticket transfers are available but refunds are not available at this time. In addition, please note that the cost for this workshop does not include required texts—you will receive a reading list ahead of the start date, along with a discount code should you wish to purchase the book(s) through The Potter's House.
