Between Heaven and Earth was written in 2024 inspired by a tragic real event that took
place earlier that year — one among countless devastations of war yet among the most heartbreaking. Though rooted in truth the story unfolds within a fictional framework.
Triggered by the ongoing global turmoil the play serves as a tribute to all victims of war and a reminder that there are no true victors in conflict: humanity always loses.
Premiering in Krakow in April 2025 Between Heaven and Earth transcends borders and
ideologies to explore the universal questions of justice guilt and vengeance through the
lens of human tragedy. A malfunctioning elevator traps four individuals: two soldiers with a dark past a dispassionate lawyer and a seemingly ordinary woman. As they confront an enigmatic voice accusing them of unthinkable crimes buried truths emerge revealing the horrors of war and the fragile boundaries of accountability.
Shifting between the suffocating tension of the elevator and the stark atmosphere of an
interrogation the play examines morality complicity and survival — leaving the audience
questioning the price of justice.
Based on the same story the author also wrote a film adaptation that became a finalist at the 15th Catalina Film Festival in California in 2025.
