Therapeutic Process: Making Concertina Art Books
Saturday November 22, 2025 - 10AM-4PM
A 6-hour guided creative and somatic journey (max. 8 participants)
This workshop is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and create something meaningful through art and body awareness.
We’ll begin with guided somatic exercises to ground and open the body, exploring specific themes from Somatic Developmental Psychology together. You will be guided through several psychological ego functions related to centring, energy management, connectedness, grounding, boundaries, and interpersonal skills.
We’ll also explore Autonomy, which will become the main theme for the rest of the session, carrying forward the connection to the previous inner work. Each participant can expect some inner movement or shift through this exploration.
From there, you’ll move into a short writing and reflectionportion, allowing insights and emotions to take shape on the page before they translate into color and form.
The art-making process follows as we paint and assemble our own concertina books, creating visual expressions that grow naturally from your personal experience. I will offer individual guidance and somatic support throughout, and when needed, helping you stay connected to your body and creative flow.
Once our books are complete, we’ll close with a gentle somatic sequence and sharing circle, integrating the experience and connecting with one another’s reflections.
All art supplies are provided. Tea and light snacks will be available, and you’re welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks.
The workshop runs for 6 hours, spacious enough for reflection, movement, and creation. In past groups, participants often find that time flies once they settle into the flow.
Location is within the area of T6W 3B8 (Edmonton South). The private address will be shared upon registration.
You’ll leave with your own handmade concertina art book (or two) which is a tangible reflection of your inner process, created through movement, awareness, and creative expression. I can ensure you, you will absolutely love them!
***This is a therapeutic process and no expertise in art is required.
***Independent TEENS are welcome to the workshop.
