Thread Painting 101Thread-painting gives you the freedom to make a very realistic image entirely with thread! Learn to analyze a photograph’s line and color, do straight-stitch and zig-zag free-motion thread-painting, plus how to mix and shade colors, while making either Autumn Leaf or Hibiscus or the Bluebird kits. These skills in hand, we then thread-paint your kit (provided by the instructor). You’ll be amazed what you can do!

*Betsy has also offered an option for people who want to thread painting their own photo.
Betsy must approve the photo ahead of time. NO LATER THAN TEN DAYS BEFORE THE WORKSHOP. Please send at least two and no more than five possible photos, (non copyrighted photos only). The photos need to have accurate color, good resolution, and focus on one or two features (a flower, but not a bouquet or a bush of flowers; a simple landscape with clear features; a close-up of a pet, but not a pet seen at a distance). Photos that are cropped to achieve this focus generally do not work well, if they become too highly pixelated or the aspect ratio is skewed. Also, works of art are not appropriate for this technique. Betsy will need the ten days’ lead time to make sure if the first choice photos don’t work, there is time to send alternatives, AND provide time to make up a custom kit.
