About this Event
Betreiben is a collection of site-specific, immersive dance theater works centered around the life and work of NY-based artist, Robert Mapplethorpe.
Betreiben Part I premiered on December 6th, 2021 at the New York City Culture Club, a gallery in the Oculus Building at the World Trade Center in NYC. This creation & performance of this work was made possible by Mary Cusano Amsterdam.
Betreiben Part II is the product of a 2-week artistic residency at Carroll Hall where we have exploded and expanded upon the world created in Betreiben Part I. The performance will be followed with a reception and a set played by DJ Monet.

HAUS OF PVMNT founded by Christopher Kinsey and Maggie Costales in 2018 as a small performing dance company committed to creating queer centric physical narratives while examining the unspoken complexities of our perspectives as gen z artists. as we experience a shift in the landscape and role of live performance inside our post-pandemic world, we are allowing space for pvmnt to grow alongside of it. we are releasing a biannual zine entitled GUESTHAUS; a place where you can come to discover an illumination of life & art through the work, thoughts, performances, open dialogues & collaborations between artists & people across all disciplines. the first issue will be available for download on our website and social media October 15th.
The dream for pvmnt has always existed beyond the proscenium stage and the singularity of dance. we are thrilled to continue improving and expanding this vehicle for community building, interdisciplinary collaboration, and education.

CreateART is an artist led multidisciplinary performance and residency platform connecting artists and audiences in diverse venues in NYC. They exist to offer visibility, support and amplification for the voices of emerging artists.
They host curated and works in progress performance events, each one unique and eclectic. CreateART events activate spaces, offer opportunity for exciting artistic encounters and advance a new way of community engagement in the arts. Venues and collaborators include Ace Hotel New York, Ace Hotel Brooklyn, Venn, NOoSPHERE Arts and Arts on Site.

Carroll Hall is a brand new, multi-faceted venue in the heart of Bushwick, NY with a lush open-air courtyard garden, warehouse with a private mezzanine lounge, a dining area with a catering kitchen, and a discreet wooden “treehouse.” The venue is available for all types of private events from art exhibits and performances to weddings and corporate functions.
