Prep begins for Berlin this September.I’m hoping to raise much needed funds for ARUK Altzimers Research UK - to find a cure.
I’m personally running for my father Derek, in his memory, who died of dementia in 2021 and my lovely Father in Law, Bob, who is afflicted by it at present. The impact of caring for my father almost certainly hasteend my mother’s death soon after his own.
After a rather annoying heart attack this past August I knew I wanted to or more honestly had to do something to make a difference. I’m recovering slowly but steadily and having a running base looked to see if I could do an event to help, raise awareness and in doing so find a cure.
So I am, I’m honoured to represent ARUK in Berlin this September and raise both funds and awareness to find a cure and in doing so support those who are going through this dreadful experience.
I went through an application and selection process and was successful and now have the task of preparing and doing it, which I relish.
If you are running or walking or like me stumbling along raising awareness I wish you well. If you are caring for another or affected personally by Dementia, my love to you has already been sent.
I’ll be setting up a donations page for sponsorship is Just giving so please keep an eye out for it. Your anticipated generosity……. ?? will go to finding a cure so I’m just an excuse to give some money to Altzimers Research UK ( put 50p a week aside till the race, that’s a tenner you won’t miss but will help their work and future generations immensely).
