El próximo jueves 20 y viernes 21 de noviembre, a las 19:30 h, Berklee Valencia presenta Berklee a Les Arts: Prisoners of the Sun en el Teatre Martín i Soler del Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía.Inspirada en la obra Luisa Miller de Verdi, y en el mito de Ícaro, Prisoners of the Sun reflexiona sobre las ilusiones de libertad que dan forma a nuestras vidas. Cada canción se convierte en un espejo que nos revela las prisiones construidas por nosotros mismos: de amor y resentimiento, de comodidad y repetición, de ambición y sufrimiento.
El espectáculo presenta a estudiantes de Berklee Valencia e incluye un repertorio que incluye temas de artistas como Esperanza Spalding, Laura Mvula, Serge Gainsbourg, Talking Heads, Dodie, Billy Joel y Manos Hadjidakis. Con arreglos de los propios intérpretes, el ensamble está formado por un grupo de vocalistas acompañados por saxofón, piano, bajo y batería.
La obra no sólo busca retratar nuestros límites muchas veces invisibles, sino también nombrarlos, dar forma a los muros que nos atan. A la luz del sol, quizás podamos comprender que la libertad no reside en el vuelo mismo, sino en el valor de mirarlo directamente y mantener los pies en el suelo.
Berklee a Les Arts es una colaboración entre Berklee Valencia y Les Arts que fusiona la música con otras disciplinas artísticas. Esta serie de conciertos ofrece una nueva perspectiva sobre las óperas clásicas, inspiradas en las obras icónicas que se presentan en Les Arts.

On Thursday, November 20, and Friday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m., Berklee Valencia presents Berklee a Les Arts: Prisoners of the Sun at the Teatre Martín i Soler of the Palau de Les Arts Reina Sofía.
Prisoners of the Sun draws upon Verdi’s Luisa Miller and the myth of Icarus to meditate on the illusions of freedom that shape our lives. Each song becomes a mirror — revealing the prisons we have built for ourselves: of love and resentment, of comfort and repetition, of ambition and suffering.
The performance features Berklee Valencia students and a diverse repertoire ranging from Esperanza Spalding and Laura Mvula to Serge Gainsbourg, Talking Heads, Dodie, Billy Joel, and Manos Hadjidakis. Each song is uniquely arranged by the performers themselves, featuring vocalists alongside saxophone, piano, bass, and drums. The stage design is inspired by the flight of Icarus, wanting to be elevated towards the sky, trying to reach the sun.
The performance seeks not only to portray our unseen confines but to name them, to give shape to the invisible walls that bind us. In the light of the sun, we may begin to see that freedom is not the flight itself, but the courage to face its radiance and still return to earth unchanged.
Berklee a Les Arts is a dynamic collaboration between Berklee Valencia and Les Arts that blends music and other artistic disciplines in unique and captivating ways. This series of performances offers a fresh perspective on classic operas, as Berklee’s talented students and faculty create innovative interpretations inspired by the iconic works performed at Les Arts.
