BeReelBlack Cinema Club fell so deeply in love with Ramata Toulaye-Sy’s critically acclaimed “Banel & Adama”, that we had to make sure it made its way to Philly!
BRBCC is elated to be co-presenting the film as part of Philadelphia Film Society's 'Echoes From the Land: Chronicles of West Africa' series. Join us as we follow the passionate journey of Banel and Adama, who defy tradition and family expectations to pursue their love.

Banel and Adama, fiercely in love, long for a home of their own. The couple decide that they will live away from their families, and that Adama will reject his blood-duty to become chief of his village. But when Adama informs the village council of his intention, the whole community is disrupted—and the rain that is supposed to come doesn’t.
