Please note: Due to COVID-19 we have adapted our family support services, there may be some differences in the services that we are currently running in comparison to pre COVID-19. This may continue to change over time as we adapt our services to the guidance given and the needs of individual families.
Under the current government guidelines, we are still able to run our bereaved support groups in person.
This group is for children aged between 5 - 15 who have sadly lost their brother or sister to childhood cancer. ?
The group will run in the same format as the previous ones have, please see below for all the information.
When: Saturday 13th February from 10.30am - 2.30pm ⏰
How: To ensure we are all safe the group will run in a new way and will be made up of smaller groups based in different rooms across The Square. Will we make sure that all the siblings are with their closest sibling friends and each group will have 1 or 2 staff members dedicated to them. There will be another member of staff who is there purely as a ‘Covid Monitor’ (this will be one of the lovely Candlelighters team and they will be there to keep us all safe). ?
What: This group will be based on Valentines and Pancake Day! The group activities will run as normal with a variety of crafts, games and lunch. ?❤️ ??
Here is what we are doing to keep everyone safe:
Mask and social distancing:
Following school guidance, children will sit 2m apart whilst working – the rooms will be set up so everyone can working comfortably in a warm, friendly environment. Staff will be wearing a mask whilst moving around The Square, but these can be removed when sitting.
Siblings under 11 do not have to wear a mask unless they want to. We also have lots of hand sanitising stations available across The Square for siblings to use and contact points will be regularly cleaned by the Covid Monitor throughout the day. We will ask staff and siblings to only use the toilet on their floor – to reduce the amount people move around the building. Unfortunately, parents will not be allowed inside The Square to drop off/pick up but if you have travelled a good distance and need the toilet then the Covid Monitor will look after you. ?
Lunch:
We ask that all siblings bring their own sandwich/wrap/salad, but we will provide snack bags for them all (if you wish – they are of course OK to bring their own). When we reply to your RSVP you will be asked to choose their preferred crisps, treats, drink, fruit etc. The snack bags will be in the room ready for the children to raid when they arrive ???
Invitations:
In order to keep safe, we are using a paperless system and we ask you to complete your RSVP & consent form online before attending the group.
How to RSVP:
Please complete the survey to RSVP: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MNP7VPG
If you have more than one child who attends the Sibling Group, then please pop both their names in the survey as you cannot complete the survey more than once.
We CANNOT WAIT to see everyone! ?
