On the second Saturday of every month, we snack, socialize, and clearance prune neighborhood street trees.Open to the public!
Come snack, socialize, and transform street trees with clearance pruning. Make a lasting environmental and community impact, meet great people, and learn about tree care. All are welcome to attend!
Trees are critical to human wellbeing, but city street trees often need routine care to be good neighbors. We remove low branches blocking sidewalks and streets and broken or improperly pruned branches that can shorten a tree's lifespan if uncorrected.
Blitzes begin with introductions and snacks. Donuts, coffee, and water will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle to carry while pruning if you have one.
New volunteers are then equipped with tools, safety gear, and hands-on training from a certified arborist. Throughout the Blitz, our arborist supervises the group's efforts, answers questions, and helps us all make good cuts. Neighborhood Foresters and our Pruning Blitzes operate with the support of the St. Louis Forestry Division.
We prune street trees as a group until around 11:00, but socializing often continues after.
