Did you know that historian Kenneth Jessen is also an artist?! He also knows many of the artists in Loveland. Ken will be pulling together his love of history and art in this tour of sculptures at the Benson Sculpture Garden. We usually think of historic preservation in terms of buildings, but urban fragments (such as sculptures) can also be an important component of what gives a community a sense of identity and place. Join Historic Larimer County in this walking tour that will include 25 sculptures. We will meet at the pavilion on the north side of 29th along Aspen Drive on Saturday, August 16 at 9:00 a.m. There is angle parking along this road. We will do a walking tour of this portion of the sculpture garden and stop at selected pieces. Narration will be provided and in some cases, about the artist and also about the work of art. Both traditional and modernist pieces will be included. The tour will be at a slow pace and will take a little over an hour with plenty of time for questions. The total distance walked is a little over half a mile. All of the tour will be on paved walkways.
This is only a fraction of the total pieces and those on this tour will be directed to the other half of the sculpture garden south of the pavilion and on the south side of 29th.
Please RSVP by marking yourself as "Going" here on Facebook.
