: Music has the ability to preserve a movement and transform the spaces we occupy, transporting listeners beyond the physical world. Benjamin Cousins & The Sonic Architects functions as Cousins' musical reflection of the social and politicized ecosystems we navigate daily, using music as a means to revisit the past and inspire creative possibilities for the architecture of the future spaces we call home. The debut album explores themes of internal conflict and moral dilemmas, serving as a catalyst to inspire change and raise questions about the communities we contribute to.
About the Artist: is a clarinetist from New Orleans, Louisiana, whose artistry merges the city's tradition of improvised music with his contemporary perspective. Cousins’ musical journey began at 14, studying under local musicians and performing in the Preservation Hall Jr. Jazz Band, where he developed his warm woody tone. Attending NOCCA, he studied the music of Alvin Batiste, inspiring him to explore the modern voices within the city. Blending influences from the city's traditional and contemporary music Cousins' began shaping his voice as an Artist, striving to create music that is rooted in tradition while exploring new territories. Cousins earned scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where he explored mixing electronic and acoustic elements, releasing singles, Fly and Time Lapse. He completed his Master's degree at Temple University. Now back in New Orleans, Cousins leads The Sonic Architects, a band whose live performances earned him a spot as an official Selmer Paris Artist.
