Beng are launching their first single, "Walton Goggins" from their upcoming sophomore record at the old stopping ground, Cactus Room. Formed in 2017, BENG are currently about to embark on their second record trajectory. More shows, more improvisation and an even bigger sound. Experience the spiritual, mind bending and motorik sounds that BENG offers through influences from the Krautrock of Can and Agitation Free, to the big beats off Blue note and modern neo psychedelia. We cannot wait for this one!
Joining us on the lineup are the brilliant;
PAUL KIDNEY EXPERIENCE -beginning in Melbourne, Australia in 2009 as a 100% improvised psych/noise-rock collective. Based around Paul Kidney and core members from The Stabs, Baseball, Fraudband and more, they have released 8 full length (and mostly sold out) albums. One of these with Karautrock legend Mani Neumeier (Guru Guru) as well as two split LPs with Japanese artists: one with Acid Mothers Temple the other with Buddhadatta.
At present this Cactus show supporting Beng is their final one pre-Japan tour!
If you've not seen PKE before then Imagine The Stooges before they recorded with Yoko Ono inhabiting Bon Scott's body out front. This pure, unadulterated psych - NOT TO BE MISSED.
APLEGATE - Coming on to a decade as an act, this jazzy and all-round technically gifted band from Castlemaine have moulded themselves as a powerhouse of improvisation and free form chops. From soaring vocals to odd time signatures, Aplegate continue their pilgrimage through their Phish-esque jungle of emotion and power.
DOPPLERHAUS - Progressive electronic noisy groove music. Imagine if early Kraftwerk and current era Osees had a big child full of beans and sonic soundscapes to emulsifying beats and chaotic lyricism. Their tightness as a collective is up there with the greats and they continue to evolve and have the element of surprise to match.
