He grew up racing dirt bikes with his brother Tristan. When Tanner was going to Marine Mechanics school in 2022 he worked as a busboy at OCC. Tanner had a couple of jobs after OCC, however he was planning on joining the U.S. Coast Guard to become a marine mechanic after graduating from boot camp in the Fall of 2024.
Tanner was living on his own and supporting himself while awaiting his USCG boot camp. He was rehired at OCC, and riding his motorcycle to his first day of work on Maderia Beach and 96 year old driver made an improper left turn in front of him at 50th Ave/Seminole Blvd.
Tanner had his helmet on it was knocked off when he hit the ground and the impact tore the helmet off his head. Chin strap ripped the hair out of his chin. He does not have insurance, his mother does not have insurance. He was supposed to start work at OCC at 5 pm.
Tanner will not be able serve in the USCG, he has taken another path for his future. After a couple of more surgeries he will go to medical school to be a physical therapist. Throughout this entire process and journey he has leaned on family, friends and kept his faith strong with our Father in Heaven. He is well aware Guardian Angels were shielding him on that fateful day at 12:51 on May 1. Tanner went to the hospital with two collapsed lungs, broken right arm, a broken femur bone, broken tibia, and a broken Fibia bone of the other leg. A brain bleed and Axon shearing of the brain which are both traumatic brain injuries (TBI’s)
He forgives the driver and appreciates the first responders who literally saved his leg and arm. Tanner looks to his future in PT so he can help other people work through their challenges and struggles of getting their life back.
