Beneath the Surface: A Somatics Workshop on Connection & Release
Join us at the DAG Gallery at Golden Belt Campus (Mill No. 1 Building) for an afternoon of movement, reflection, and connection in this somatics workshop, presented in tandem with local artist Freddie Bell's exhibition, "(we weren’t) built for this."
Facilitated by Dr. Bex P-M, somatics practitioner and human geographer, this workshop will explore fascia, the connective tissue that weaves through our bodies, linking us to our inner worlds and to each other. Through playful movement, guided exercises, and shared reflection, we will explore how emotions live in the body, how we hold and release tension, and how we are all connected beneath the surface.
This in-person event is your chance to tap into your body's wisdom and unlock a sense of freedom. No experience or equipment is necessary! This workshop is open to all bodies, all ages, and all levels of mobility. Whether you’re curious about somatics, drawn to the themes of the exhibit, or simply looking for a space to move and feel, you are warmly welcome.
Suggested donation: $15-$35 (no one turned away for lack of funds).
Your support helps the Durham Art Guild continue providing meaningful arts programming and community-driven experiences like this. By contributing, you’re not only sustaining local artists and events but also fostering a space where creativity, connection, and healing can thrive.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference—thank you for helping us keep art accessible and impactful!
