While he, of course,revels at the immense world-building energyof this music, its the other side the elusive,magical aspect that endlessly captivates him the understated. The composer draws inspirationmost from the ensemble work of these hallmarkjazz ensembles. Despite the individual partsbeing extraordinarily beautiful on their own, themusicians in these archetypal ensembles playonly what is needed to serve the music, payingparticular attention to the band-sound moresothan their individual sound.
