About this Event
Join our Ben Lomond Ranger for a 3 hour walk spotting an array of butterflies, birds and bees on the lower slopes of Ben Lomond and learn about the importance of pollination.
This three-hour walk is of mixed terrain, mostly off-path and occasionally wet underfoot with some steep climbs at times. It will require a reasonable level of fitness, walking uphill for approximately 2/3 mile or 1km, and covering a total distance of 1.5 miles or 2.5km. Please come prepared with walking boots, waterproofs, an extra layer of clothing/sunhat & sunscreen depending on the weather forecast. We will also provide a quick form on the day for you to provide us with any medical details we need to be aware of. If you have got binoculars please bring them along!
Meet the NTS ranger base at Ardess Lodge, 700m north of the Ben Lomond car park. You are welcome to drive up and park at the lodge for this event, however please be aware it is a very rough track.
Terrain: Track, path (steep, uneven and rocky in places), pathless grassland with deep tussocks and wet flushes to cross in places. Short sections of the walk will pass through waist high bracken.
Waterproofs are essential; please wear grippy shoes or walking boots; and bring a snack/drink if you feel you will need one.
Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. The minimum age for this walk is 8 years.
