A staple of the Seacoast music scene since 1975, Ben Baldwin and The Big Note have been getting audiences on their feet for nearly five decades. Named after a mystical concept borrowed from Frank Zappa, The Big Note delivers an eclectic mix of danceable covers that spans genres and decades. From Count Basie to Rufus Thomas, Gene Pitney to Marvin Gaye, The Band to The Kinks—and even Latin dance music— they play it all.
Expect a good time. Dancing encouraged!
ABOUT THE SHAW BROTHERS MEMORIAL SERIES:
The Shaw Brothers Memorial Series honors the legacy of Rick and Ron Shaw—twin brothers and beloved folk musicians known as “New Hampshire’s musical ambassadors to the world.” From their early days at UNH to “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony)” to international acclaim, the Shaw Brothers tayed deeply connected to their roots, bringing their love for New England to the world stage. This free concert series celebrates their lasting influence while raising funds for the Shaw Brothers Memorial Scholarship at PMAC, supporting the next generation of students at Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC).
