Bellydance is a rich and empowering art form inspired by Folk Dances of the Middle East, North Africa, Greece & Turkey. This rich cultural heritage has grown and branched out into many styles and interpretations performed all over the world. Bellydance is readily recognized for it's emphasis on isolated movements of the hips and torso. This dance form is known to empower women & has historically been performed by all genders! This art form is body-positive & uniquely inclusive as a dance.Classes are instructed by Ashley Rose & Adriane Dellorco who have a combined 45+ years of study in traditional bellydance.

***Bellydance Beginnings***

Mondays 5:30-6:30pm
$120/8-week session
This class is for the absolute beginner. Attendance is strongly encouraged for each week of the session. It is important to set a good foundation of quality and safe technique & cultural reference before moving on to more advanced movements & combinations.
Each week we will cover new movements found in the core movement vocabulary of most genres of bellydance, but with a specific emphasis on the techniques & esthetics of traditional "Raqs Sharqi," "Oryantal Dans" the dances originating in Egypt, Greece, Lebanon & Turkey, which has been my area of study over the last 15 years.
Expect to sweat! Count on having some fun!
Class will begin with a cultural lecture and acknowledgements to the land and people from which these dances originate, including acknowledgment of my lineage of native teachers.
Throughout the session, each lesson includes guidance & conditioning towards strong, healthy posture, a thorough warm up followed by detailed descriptions of movements, tempo drills (practice to music) & a cool-down.
Basic arm positions & movements will be covered along with, foundational hip movements & shimmies, undulations and footwork.
By the end of the session you will be able to safely perform hip lifts & drops, chest lifts & drops, hip/chest slides & circles, downward & upward figure 8s, hip shimmies and basic footwork patterns.
This class is intended to prepare you to safely layer these foundational movements with other isolations and more advanced techniques. Regular weekly attendance ensures advancement to the next class and is highly encouraged.

***Level 1: Vocabulary Expansion & Traveling Steps Technique***

Mondays 6:30-7:30pm

Come join us in honing your foundational skills, expand your vocabulary into the fluid movements series, practice the more advanced geometry of figure 8s, undulations as well as advancing into layering traveling footwork patterns.
This class is available to those who have taken Bellydance beginning or an equivalent introductory course.
***Bellydance Drill & Conditioning (All Levels)***
Taught By Adriane Dellorco
Mondays 7:30-8:30pm
$120/8/week session
Bellydance Drill & Conditioning is one hour intended to utilize specific conditioning movement's designed to improve the fluidity, range of motion and strength available to each dancer.
All movements can be modified to suit each dancers fitness level.
Extended rhythm movement drills will be practiced to hone in on exactness in timing and visual technique of movements.
Planks, yoga & gentle strength conditioning movements will be a part of each session before diving into our movement drills.
