A full day of fun for our belly dance community!All classes/workshops are geared towards beginner/intermediate dancers but all levels are welcome to attend and will find value in the offerings from these wonderful instructors.
Schedule:
10am-10:30am Potluck Breakfast
Bring a dish or drinks to share (we'd estimate between 10-20 people) or bring $5 to contribute
Suggestions: bagels and cream cheese, fresh fruit, muffins, yogurt and granola, coffee (of course!), hot tea packs (we have hot water at the studio)
10:30am-12pm Fusion Fun with Amaryllis Azadi
Get warmed up and ready to shimmy! Amaryllis will guide you through a full body warmup and drills and then into combos and choreography. The perfect way to kick off camp.
12pm-1:30pm LUNCH BREAK
Our Saturday Belly Dancers usually like to go to Mom's Diner right down the road for brunch/lunch so that's probably where most of us will go but attendees are welcome to pack a lunch and eat at the studio or go to any other restaurants in the area
1:30pm-3:30pm Egyptian Technique & Choreography with Cindy Macías
Cindy has had a diverse history of training in belly dance, studying in both Mexico and the US with some of the biggest names in belly dance and then becoming an instructor herself. It's hard to sum up Cindy's style with just one or two words. She is a true artist and her unique flavor of belly dance must be experienced first hand. And in this workshop, you will have that very opportunity! Cindy will share some of her most helpful & insightful knowledge she has acquired from all of her studies and how she has adapted it into her own unique style. Come prepared to learn fun combinations, technique, acting, musicality and a new perspective on belly dancing.
4:00pm-6:00pm Versatile Veil with Jahara
Jahara is an award winning dancer from Aalim Dance Academy in Oklahoma City. She is known for her energetic and playful style, and that is exactly what she's bringing to round out our Belly Dance Day Camp! You will learn veil technique and tricks to help transform your performances and a short choreography will be taught to showcase how versatile veil can be!
10am-7pm
COSTUME SWAP
We sure love our costumes, and costumes are expensive! So let's all save and share! Bring any old ones you have that have been sitting in the closet and swap out for a new-to-you look for your next performance. (Any and all belly dance wear is welcome)
