On October 16th, 2023 at 10:30 am, Brian Griffin will be honored for his lifetime of dedication to the Bellingham community with the renaming of a street in Brian’s name.
Like Donovan, Larrabee, Bloedel, and Bennett before him, Brian has spearheaded a number of projects that have made their way onto the map of Bellingham and into our culture. Without his vision and leadership, Boulevard Park, the Village Green in Fairhaven, the Depot Market, and the Parkade may have never have gotten off the ground. We may not have enjoyed walking around the old towns of Fairhaven, Sehome, Whatcom, and Bellingham, noting the Boundary Markers and stories. As one of Bellingham’s more notable contemporary historians, he entertains and educates on the History Sunset Cruise and has written a number of books on the area including The Donovan Diaries about notable founder, J. J. Donovan. Simply put, Bellingham would not be what it is today without Brian Griffin.
As a member of the Rotary Club of Bellingham since 1960, Brian exemplifies what it means to put Service Above Self. Through Rotary, he has initiated countless projects to improve our community. In 2009, the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce even named him the recipient of its annual Man of the Year award!
Join us in celebrating Brian and for the dedication of Brian Griffin Way in front of the Fairhaven Library.
