#BarCampBelfast2024 is set to hit the Oh Yeah Music Centre. this October as part of (Belfast Tech Week) hashtag#BTW2024 .BarCamp Belfast is a user-generated unconference for founders, designers, developers, startups, creatives and anyone that wants to share and learn in an open environment.
An unconference means that there are no fees to register and attend and there are no invited speakers. Instead, the attendees volunteer to give talks, organising the schedule on the day.
Marty Neil, the founder of Airpos, is the driving force behind this year’s event. He aims to emulate the success that Andy McMillan had back in 2009, while respecting the groundwork laid by Andy and reflecting the good work done in the past. Along with a dedicated team, Marty is committed to working hard to pull together an event that promises to be worthy of the name ‘User Generated Conference’. Belfast BarCamp 2024 is expected to feature talks throughout the day and offer networking opportunities for participants from all across Ireland and beyond.

While there will be some references to APIs and tech jargon, the majority of discussions will focus on business development in web design, project management, life coaching, and managing clients to maximize satisfaction and profit. Expect to see a lot of entrepreneurs, plenty of networking, and a bit of self-promotion from some speakers!
Of course, none of that’s bad. In fact, the quality of the talks is expected to be incredibly high, reflecting the local market and the wider ecosystem. Looks like it’s a social island after all!
Not having Wi-Fi might have proved quite liberating for the events back in 2009 as it encouraged real-life conversations and kept people’s heads up from their laptops… This time there will be Wi-FI… Make of that what you will! :-)

It would be great if all the available rooms were booked solid all day, with talks overflowing into corners of the public spaces. More talks would shrink the numbers in some rooms, perhaps allowing more interaction and conversation and less talk from the front.
