About this Event

SPACE Professionals Conference 2024

Join us for an insightful evening dedicated to helping teachers and education staff better understand neurodiversity through the lived experiences of young people. This one-off event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from neurodiverse voices as they share their stories, challenges, and successes in navigating the world around them.

Through a series of powerful video testimonials, young people will discuss what neurodiversity means to them, the sensory needs they experience in the classroom, the complexities of social relationships, and the importance of embracing their diverse sense of self.

Topics Include:

  • What Does Neurodiversity Mean to Young People?
  • Sensory Needs in the Classroom
  • Navigating Friendships and Social Skills
  • Embracing a Diverse Sense of Self

Speakers:

  • Sophia Christophi: A young woman with Tourette's and Autism, SPACE Trainer, and Peer Support Worker, Sophia will share her journey and insights on neurodiversity.
  • Chris Russell: SPACE Training Lead and Family Support Manager, Chris will offer practical tools and strategies for supporting neurodiverse students.

What You’ll Gain: By attending this event, you will:

  • Learn how to support children in your school to identify and advocate for their own needs.
  • Gain strategies to help neurodiverse students develop meaningful friendships and social skills.
  • Explore ways to empower pupils to problem-solve and manage challenging situations.
  • Be inspired to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all students, embracing the full spectrum of neurodiversity.

This event is designed to equip teaching and non-teaching staff with the knowledge and skills to create a more inclusive and understanding classroom environment, helping neurodiverse students thrive in, and out, of the classroom.

Tea/coffee and sandwiches are included in your ticket price.
