Keynote
Tamsin Grimmer is an author, consultant and lecturer who has a wealth of experience within early childhood and is a true advocate for adopting a loving pedagogy.
Learning to behave - Supporting our superheroes!
Young children are learning to behave just as they are learning other skills in early childhood. In this keynote, Tamsin will explore this concept linking in with superhero play and consider how we can develop children's empathy, can-do attitude, and confidence through embracing this active play.
Activities
Throughout the day we will be showcasing Derbyshire EY practice and projects, spotlighting learning together, and activities to share your views and celebrating reading for pleasure with a prize draw.
Workshops
Everyone can attend 2 workshops from the exhilarating line up:
Led by Jabadao practitioners, this workshop will focus on early development (0-3 years) and will challenge your perceptions of physical development and ignite your passion for child-led Movement Play as a powerful tool for holistic child development.
Led by Hannah Knowles, this workshop will focus on Early Years providers (0-5 years) and how you can enliven the ways you bring knowledge into action. Modern life is exhausting. If you’re not careful it can grind you and your team down into 'average mode'. When the world’s doing its worst it’s doubly important that you know how to be at your best! THE ART OF BEING BRILLIANT helps you shine by reconnecting you with you. We use cutting edge research but have surgically removed the big words and replaced them with simple, do-able principles that are applicable at work and home. https://www.artofbrilliance.co.uk/
Led by Sarah Cummins, this workshop will focus on how any and all Early Years provision (0-5 years) can be influenced by Montessori principles and how it can work with your current ethos.

Jabadao is a UK charity, established in 1985 to develop collaborative projects pairing somatic movement specialists with education and health organisations, to create embodied approaches to learning and health.
Jabadao team members combine developmental movement knowledge, with strong practice in play-based movement and body work techniques. The training team is led by Penny Greenland MBE, founder of Jabadao.
The practitioner team are all movers, as well as teachers and researchers. We play to find out about the value of play; as well as undertaking action research and collaborative investigations with early years and special school partners. We model movement play techniques, as movement players ourselves.
