Do you catch yourself apologising all the time?
Are you scared to speak up in meetings, rehearsals or social situations?
Are you scared of being called, or have you ever been called a ‘Difficult Woman?’
In this taster class, we’ll use discussion, games, improv activities & reflection to explore what it means to be unapologetic. We’ll practice interrupting unnecessary apologies for ourselves & others and practice not apologising for ourselves physically & vocally.
As Maja Jovanic speaks about in this TED talk, the default state of apologising for ourselves can erode self-esteem & confidence. Let’s stop saying sorry unnecessarily and save apologies for when they really matter.
Class Details:
Places are capped at 12. This event is for all cis and trans women, as well as non-binary people who are comfortable in a space which centres the experience of women.
No improv experience is needed but please note that we will be using improvised role play scenarios as part of the learning.
This event is part of The Bristol Improv Theatre’s International Women’s Day activities, with support from Women’s Voice. For further information on the other events, please go to our website.
