About this Event

Duck behind the scenes with us at the Zoffany Showroom in The Merchandise Mart to view an exclusive collection of William Morris textiles. Zoffany owns the largest archive of William Morris' textiles and puts a modern spin on some cherished designs. Hear about the influence of the 20th century creative from Melinda Watt, Chair and Christa C. Mayer Thurman Curator of Textiles at the Art Institute of Chicago. Her upcoming show at The Art Institute will feature "Morris & Company: The Business of Beauty".


Beloved by all for their compelling scenes of nature, unforgettable patterns and timely nostalgia, Morris & Co. presents a gathering of favorite works to mark 160 years of timeless design.

Melinda Watt has been Chair and Christa C. Mayer Thurman Curator of the Textile Department at the Art Institute of Chicago since June of 2018. In this role, she oversees the global textile collection formed by a series of visionary department heads, and leads the textile exhibition program within the department and throughout the museum. Previously, Watt was a Curator at The Metropolitan Museum of Art as well as Supervising Curator of the Antonio Ratti Textile Center. As co-curator of Interwoven Globe: The Worldwide Textile Trade, 1550-1800 (2013), she developed an abiding interest in the global artistic and technical exchange that has informed textile design, throughout history and to the present day.
