A Banquet for Hungry Ghosts blends Chinese customs, culture and cuisine into 10 exhilarating horror stories that journey through time from the building of the Great Wall in 200 BC to 80s New York City to present-day Singapore. Based on the eponymous book by chef and author Ying Chang Compestine.
Meet Ervin Han, Co-Founder of Robot Playground Studio, as he shares the journey of creating adult animation, from the project’s origin and development process to how Mediacorp got involved. We’ll spotlight the pilot episode "Egg Fried Rice," explore the growth of adult animation in the streaming era, and discuss the intricacies of pitching, financing, and tackling the challenges of international production today.

Over three years, they navigated youthful naivete, crushed dreams, and artist blocks while answering the question: What is “adult animation”?

Zombie Safari is an upcoming animated horror comedy series, produced by Finding Pictures and Ministry of Funny. The show features the stellar voice-cast of Jun Vinh Teoh, Munah Bagharib, Sivakumar Palakrishnan, Daisy Irani, Jo Tan, and Haresh Tilani.
On the day of a zombie apocalypse, Musang, a wild Civet Cat, is trapped in a zoo with its mistrusting and highly strung animal residents. On this day of days, the animals regain their freedom but must now learn to live and survive at all cost - predator, prey, and zombie. Follow our underdog bunch as they maneuver around species politics, dark secrets, and straight up gore, in this new and twisted animation series, premiering on Mediacorp meWatch and YouTube October 2024!

This masterclass is presented by Cartoons Underground, Southeast Asia's largest independent animation festival, celebrating its 13th edition on October 19, 2024, at Projector x Cinneleisure.
With 1,500 submissions from over 90 countries, the festival has curated 14 stunning animated shorts from Italy, the US, China, Singapore, and more. Attendees can expect bold themes—sex positivity, mental health, comedy, horror—explored through dynamic 2D, 3D, and stop-motion animation.

Ervin Han is the co-founder of Singapore-based animation studio, Robot Playground Media. He produces, directs and oversees development of original productions including animated series and features. Ervin hopes to help elevate Southeast Asian animation as a well of talent, craft, and stories for a global audience.

Robot Playground Media is an award-winning Singapore-based animation and pre-production studio that specialises in visual development and animation production - from 2D/3D animation to VFX and motion graphics. It has a particular focus on Southeast Asia and Asia-inspired stories for global audiences of all ages.

Mark Wee is an animation filmmaker, producer, and co-founder of Finding Pictures, an independent animation studio known for its award-winning short films showcased at major festivals like Cannes and Annecy. He produced the Mediacorp animated series “The Adventures of Luggy” and “The Woke Salaryman Animated,” as well as the “Scoop!” children’s series, which competed at the 2021 Las Vegas Asian Film Awards.
As showrunner for the animated superhero series “Puberteens,” he led the project to win Best Animation Programme at the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards. Most recently, he show-ran and directed the adult comedy horror series “Zombie Safari,” set to premiere on Mediacorp’s meWatch and YouTube in October 2024.

Jerrold Chong is an award-winning animation filmmaker and director, graduated from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) and recipient of the NAC’s prestigious Young Artist Award in 2022. His films have been featured at numerous international festivals, including Cannes Director’s Fortnight, Busan International Film Festival, and Singapore International Film Festival. Notably, his short film “Piece of Meat” premiered at Cannes and was showcased at various other festivals. Jerrold also directed the NDP 2021 music video “The Road Ahead” and is a co-founder of the independent animation studio Finding Pictures.
Finding Pictures Studio
Finding Pictures is an award-winning independent animation studio based in Singapore, founded by a team of filmmakers and designers dedicated to innovative storytelling. The studio develops original intellectual properties (IP) for short films and long-form content (TV series and features) while offering a range of creative animation pre-production and production services.
With short films showcased at prestigious festivals like Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and Annecy International Animation Festival, the studio also produced the award-winning series “Puberteens,” which won Best Animated Programme at the 2022 Asian Academy Creative Awards. Currently, they are in production on “Zombie Safari,” an adult animated zombie horror comedy about a group of zoo animals navigating a zombie apocalypse.
