This class is in person for 10 weeks, 3 hours per week. Class cost: $599, materials separate. Copper and Brass will be included.
This beginning level jewellery class will provide a solid foundation of metal, tools, techniques, and safety. We will make approximately 4-5 pieces of jewellery over the 10 weeks with the final project being a cabochon ring. Students are encouraged to design their own projects.
The following techniques will be covered: *sawing *polishing *soldering *sanding/filing *piercing *texturing *patinas *ring sizing and making *forming *stamping *bezel setting *making ear wires
The following tools will be covered: *flex shaft *disc cutter *dapping block *soldering torch You will receive a manual with all the techniques and step by step instructions to go along with the class.
10 hours of studio time are provided with this class. Studio time must be used within 90 days of the last class.
PREREQUISITES: None
Please Note: Beginning Silversmithing covers the fundamentals of silversmithing. Each class builds on the week before so missing a class can be challenging. In particular, missing week 3 which covers the soldering foundation will set you behind.
