Students will create and complete their own small pine needle basket using pine needles from Long Leaf Pine trees harvested in the southeast United States. This is a 2-day class with one day in between. Students should plan to spend time between classes working on their basket at home.
This class is recommended for participants age 16 and over. Some "crafting" experience would be helpful
*Class participants should bring a small pair of sharp scissors and a hand towel if able.
About the Instructor: Jill Anderson has been a summer resident of Ely since 1973 when she married an "Ely boy". Jill and her husband have a cabin on the east of Burntside Lake that is the former Echo Trail Lodge property. Jill spends winters in Arizona. She has taken numerous classes at the Ely Folk School and has sold her pine needle baskets, as well as pottery/pine needle pieces which are a collaborative effort with local potter, Nancy Hernesmaa, at Art and Soul Gallery and the Ely Farmer's Market
