Learn some of the basics of free-motion quilting. This class is designed for beginners only.Bring a snack or lunch, a refrigerator and microwave are available for your use.
Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Must have functional knowledge of your sewing machine
Materials Included: The teacher will bring different brands of thread for you to try and sandwiches with alternative battings for you to learn from.
Requirements: Sewing machine with power cord and foot pedal. If you have a large extension table (for example: a Sew Steady) you will have more success without developing any shoulder or neck pain. Your machine must have the ability to drop or cover the feed dogs to perform free motion quilting. A walking foot if you have not prepared your quilt sandwiches. A "darning foot", or "hopping foot" or "quilting foot" - named by the brand of your machine A single hole throat plate if your machine has one Threads you might want to quilt with at home - the teacher will bring some experimental threads Extra bobbins New size 10 topstitch needles. Two "quilting sandwiches" approximately 16 inches x 20 inches each, with plain muslin and the batting of your choice. (What do you normally use in your quilts? - that's the batting you should use! Regular sewing notions including: scissors, seam ripper, wash away marker, quilting gloves (if you have them)
