Beginning Apologetics: How to Explain and Defend the Catholic Faith
The subject of apologetics has come up in several venues lately, and we are excited about the interest. Why are we excited to provide a series on apologetics to our parish? Basically, to facilitate the educating of our faithful to enable them to fulfill the Vatican II decreed, “This sacred Synod earnestly exhorts laymen, each according to his natural gifts and learning, to be more diligent in doing their part to explain and defend Christian principles.”
On Sunday, June 9, we will begin hosting this apologetics series from 9:45—10:45 a.m. in Room 15 with an overview of the program. Our first lesson will begin June 16 at 9:45 in room 15, and will be about the Eucharist. Since the Eucharist is such an important doctrine to our faith, and because it divides us from nearly all Protestants, we need to insist on discussing the Eucharist in any apologetic dialogue, and we must be prepared to discuss it well. This series will continue every Sunday throughout the summer.
For more information contact Deacon Ed Parsons at (502) 382-0145 or Deacon John Brannen at (859) 273-9999 ext. 1551 or (502) 370-5779.
Information about purchasing the book will be provided at the Welcome Counter in the Gathering Space as you enter the church. Our first topic will be an overview of Catholic Apologetics and the process we will use for our discussions. Facilitators will vary based upon the topic.
