Machine Sewing for Beginners
Have you bought or acquired a sewing machine but feeling a bit flummoxed of how it works and what you can achieve with just a solid, rudimentary knowledge of machine sewing. Join us for a fab Friday workshop, discovering your way around a sewing machine to learn the basic techniques to help build your confidence and skills. We’ll start our Beginners’ Machine Sewing by learning how to set up your machine, before creating a variety of different stitches, inserting a zip, boxing corners, making and joining pieces of a simple pattern.
You’ll spend the day with the ever-brilliant Lauren Holloway, learning how to make a variety of projects to take home using a selection of fabrics provided, including a drawstring bag and a zipped pouch. We have machines you’re welcome to borrow for the day or if you’d rather bring your own that’s fine too (but do email us to let us know about the machine you want to bring along if that’s your preference).
You’re sure to leave today’s workshop bursting with enthusiasm and armed with new knowledge to embark on countless projects at home. Lauren’s workshop is a the perfect place to start your sewing journey, Plus, you’ll get to take your lovely handmade items home with you.
