Whittling an introduction to carving wooden sticks into something useful or a thing of beauty using a knife.
About this Event

In this whittling workshop, we'll begin by covering the essential safety aspects of using a knife. Understanding proper handling techniques is crucial, and we will also go over how to sharpen your knife effectively. This will ensure you are confident and prepared as you begin carving.

Your first project will be crafting a butter knife from green hazel wood. This introductory task is designed to help you get comfortable using your knife and practicing basic carving techniques. Once you’ve completed the butter knife, you will have the opportunity to choose from several additional projects. Some of the options include carving a coffee bag peg, mushrooms, or even crochet needles, allowing you to explore different shapes and techniques while refining your skills.

The workshop takes place in our studio, located near Marlborough, offering a creative and supportive environment to learn the art of whittling. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this hands-on session will provide the skills and confidence needed to continue your carving journey. Join us for a rewarding and enjoyable day of crafting with wood, where you'll walk away with your own hand-carved creations.
