Beginners' Shape Note Singing at The West Hill Hall

On Friday 10th April, we're holding the first of two Beginners' Shape Note Workshops
Doors open 7:30pm
Workshop: 7:45–8:30pm
We’ll cover:
• What shape notes are
• Basic music sight reading
• Singing together in unison and harmony
• Major and minor songs
This will be followed by a regular singing (around 1 hour 15 minutes), where anyone can choose a song and we all sing it together.
Everyone is welcome :) The workshop is free. We'll do a collection to cover costs of hall hire.

Sacred Harp Singing is four part a cappella harmony singing. All are welcome to come along, whether you have experience or not, whether you think you can sing or read music or not, and whatever you believe in (it's a hymn book, but the singers are 'of any faith and none')

This is an informal group and no regular commitment is needed, you can come and go to a singing as you please, and come along as often or as little as you like. Sacred Harp is social singing- it is not performance music and there are no rehearsals. We sing together for ourselves in the moment, more akin to a folk session than a choir.
